2023 NFL MVP Odds: Is Now a Good Time to Bet on Justin Herbert Winning MVP?

Now that the 2023 NFL schedule is no longer a mystery, the itch to bet on America’s favorite sport is ready to be scratched.

I’m not the type of person who wants to bet on the mid-May season opener between the Kansas City Chiefs (-6.5, O/U 53.5) and the Detroit Lions. In any case, I’ll wait patiently and let the crowd grow the total numbers over the next few months so I can deploy the “under” around kickoff.

however, i burst three bets on the future After the NFL Draft, there’s one more I’ve been thinking about for a few weeks: Justin Herbert for NFL MVP.

The Los Angeles Chargers quarterback is already garnering respect from bookies across the country. Fox Bet and FanDuel Sportsbook both have Herbert shared at +900 ($100 win $900), just one spot behind Burrows and Patrick Mahomes. Those three superstars are listed on +700.

For added context, Herbert has lower MVP odds than Jalen Hurts, Lamar Jackson, Aaron Rodgers, Trevor Lawrence and Dak Prescott.

Hmm.

Vishal Vs. On Christmas Day the Eagles, 49ers Vs. Eagles In Week 13 Announced Before NFL Schedule Is Released

Kevin Burkhart and Erin Andrews have announced two big games for Fox NFL this season.

One professional punter told Fox Sports, “There aren’t many quarterbacks who have more guns than Herbert.” “Austin Ekeler is one of the best backfield pass catchers, and receivers Mike Williams and Keenan Allen are dangerous when they’re healthy. And they drafted a rookie who was a monster at TCU.

“Herbert may not have one elite receiver, but he has three very good ones.”

That third receiver is rookie Quentin Johnson, an impressive wideout with size, speed and tons of skill. He measures a biscuit under 6’4″ and 210 pounds with the ability to run vertical routes with the best of them.

Last year at TCU, Johnson caught 60 passes for 1,069 yards.

Los Angeles also hired Kellen Moore to run the offense, another sign that Herbert should have even more opportunities to expand down the field. Moore’s calling card in Dallas was explosive play as the Cowboys averaged nearly 30 points per game over the past four seasons.

Herbert and Moore could be an downright lethal combination, and it’s hard to imagine the 25-year-old Herbert throwing the ball much less than last season when he attempted 699 passes.

699.

Another angle working in Herbert’s favor is the AFC West being filled.

You already know Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs will score and keep the momentum going, and chances are Russell Wilson will have a better season with Sean Payton captaining the Denver Broncos offense. Even the Las Vegas Raiders with Jimmy Garoppolo may have a secret efficient offense.

If that division lives up to its offensive potential, we’ll be firing shelling after shelling. And it’s good for the quarterback.

Two years earlier, Herbert threw for 5,000 yards and 38 touchdowns with conservative play caller Joe Lombardi leading the show.

Now he has even more guns going into 2023 — not to mention two first-round picks on the offensive line — and it’s entirely possible he’ll take another step forward with Moore plotting things out .

Now let’s start the MVP campaign for Justin Herbert.
