A dash of thunder and lightning is the recipe for the perfect movie watching atmosphere, and TikTok is taking it by storm this Halloween. Since 2020, TikTokers are putting a spooky spin on the viral cloud wall trend, creating ceiling clouds that light up in a range of rainbow colors, making for the ultimate Halloween decor. Inspired by her fellow TikTok users, Aurelie Bouty set to work gathering the right materials to recreate storm clouds in her home in France. After a quick trip to the craft store, the end result was truly the most magical home movie viewing experience we’ve ever seen.
How do it Yourself Your Own LED Cloud Ceiling
To get started with your DIY cloud ceiling, the basic materials you’ll need are LED lights ($13, originally $30), enough poster board or paper to cover your ceiling, copious amounts of hot glue, and Several bags of synthetic bat ($15). Some TikTokers recommend sticking poster board or paper to the ceiling with spray adhesive ($15), but double-sided tape ($10, originally $17) and self-adhesive hanging strips work just as well. Once you’ve got the basics down, stick the LED lights to the ceiling in the pattern of your choice, cover them with synthetic filler, and voila!
For Bowtie, the process took about 12 hours, but it was worth it in the end. Can you imagine watching the latest season of ‘Stranger Things’, weird horror movies and your favorite Halloween movies with colorful ‘lightning’ twinkling in the background?
There’s a catch in this enchanted cloud ceiling: spiders. The light attracts insects, while the fluff is an ideal hiding place for creepy critters. But proper maintenance — that is, dusting and regular cleaning — can help minimize the presence of the tiny intruder. Regular cleaning can also help reduce the risk of potential fire hazards, but taking extra precautions such as avoiding flickering candles and fireplaces can also help.
If you’re all set to install this enchanting LED cloud ceiling in your home this Halloween, take a peek at the enchanting final product.
