Dad confronts Patrick Mahomes on the golf course after his son refuses to sign an autograph
Two-time Super Bowl winner Patrick Mahomes is one of the stars of the Netflix series “The Quarterback.”
The show documents Mahomes’ most recent football season, but it also highlights his role in being a proud father to his son.
When Mahomes refused to sign an autograph for a young fan at the American Century Championship, an awkward argument broke out with a fellow father on the golf course.
Mahomes, who has appeared at celebrity golf events several times, was apparently told to stop signing so many autographs during one of his rounds.
Mahomes told a group of fans, “They told me I couldn’t do it anymore… I was doing some signings, and they said I was taking too long.”
Despite the obvious disruption to the momentum of the game from autograph signings, Mahomes seemed quite happy to continue signing as much as possible.
“Thought we were having a good time,” said the Kansas City Chiefs star.
However, Mahomes’ status didn’t stop one father from objecting to his son not being able to make the coveted signing.
“Mr. Mahomes, when you’re done will you sign my jersey?” the young fan was heard asking Mahomes.
The quarterback responded by saying, “Can’t sign for everybody… can’t please everybody.” The father retorted by saying, “Yes, you can… You can only please one child out of a hundred.”
Mahomes then replied, “I’ll make 99 people sad.”

“It’s okay…one in 99, at least it’s not zero percent,” said the father.
After the exchange, Mahomes got back into the flow of his golf game.
Now that the golf competition and awkwardness is over, Mahomes’ focus will likely be on trying to repeat as Super Bowl champion.

The Chiefs have made it to the title game three of the last four seasons and are expected to once again be one of the best teams in the AFC this upcoming season.
“Everyone is motivated by it,” Mahomes said when reporting to training camp earlier this week.
“You have to be inspired to do it again. When you have that parade, when you go through the offseason that I went through, you want to do it again.

The Chiefs defeated the Philadelphia Eagles in a thrilling Super Bowl LVII in February.
Three years ago, Kansas City won Super Bowl LIV by dominating the San Francisco 49ers.
They advanced to Super Bowl LV the following year but lost 31–9 to Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Despite experiencing a fair amount of success in recent seasons, Mahomes said he plans to do everything possible to keep the team motivated.
Mahomes said, “This time, I think I’m going to really try and inspire guys to do better, even if we’re winning football games.” “Let’s not be satisfied with just winning [but also] Finding ways to get better every week.”
