Doc Rivers fears starting after G6 loss vs. Celtics

The Philadelphia 76ers blew a tremendous opportunity on Thursday night. They could be pretty much sitting around right now, waiting to have either the Miami Heat or the New York Knicks as their opponents in the Eastern Conference Finals. Instead, they allowed Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics to steal a 95-86 victory in Philly, forcing a Game 7 in Boston on Sunday.

Sixers fans are clearly not happy with this brutal loss. on this point, started spreading panicAnd now it’s being pointed at head coach Doc Rivers:

History is clearly not on Philly’s side for Game 7, and it has a lot to do with Dock Rivers. The veteran coach has been through his fair share of close games in the past, and unfortunately for Sixers fans, Rivers doesn’t exactly have a stellar record – as pointed out by the folks on Twitter.

The good news for Coach Docter is that he still has an opportunity to redeem himself. If he is able to lead the Sixers to victory in Game 7 on Sunday, Philly fans will, of course, be behind him again. However, this is a great demand for Rivers and his quadrangle with Tatum & Company. Playing at their home ground on Sunday.

If the Sixers end up losing Game 7, it would clearly signal the end of the season for them. At that point, it would not be unfathomable to imagine that Doc Rivers’ tenure as head coach could potentially be in question.
