Former DILG Usec Martin Diño battles stage 4 cancer, says daughter Liza Diño

Martin Dino, former undersecretary of the interior and local government, is battling stage 4 cancer, according to his daughter, Liza Dino-Seguerra, former president of the Film Development Council of the Philippines.
On Facebook, Dino-Seguerra shared two pictures with his father – one showing him half-bald and another showing his hair growing back.
“From this to this,” read Dino-Seguerra’s caption. “So yes, my father is fighting the big C (Stage 4), but we will not let ourselves be defeated.” However, he did not reveal what type of cancer his father had.
The former officer’s daughter said it has been a year since she learned about Dino’s illness and the situation has been challenging for the whole family.
“I just realized that it has been a year now since we learned he was ill and while it has been difficult for our family, we are inspired by our father’s determination and fighting spirit. Ang Deminya Vedna Gastong Govin. ang dami nya pang gustong sampayat and I know nag sya dahil gusto nyang malikal sa public service (He wants to do more. He wants to help more people, and I know he’s just gathering his strength Because he still wants to return to public service),” he said.
Looking back at the challenges she faces now, Dino-Seguerra said she is grateful for every little thing and every opportunity she has been given in the past.
“I just realized that when challenges like this come your way, you can be grateful to be able to live just one more day; He said, “There is no big cost to be happy because you recognize the value of small things in life.”
For one, she said the fact that her dad is already growing his hair back is something to be thankful for.
“I am very happy to see you happy father. your hair! Oh god, it’s back. You are looking good! I am very proud of you. And look at that smile. Never lose the charm. Jusco, Kaya Guapo Pa Rin!!! Ang tapang mo papa. Basta laban tayo. Nandito Kami is a lot of fun! (You never lost your charm. You are still so beautiful! You are brave. Let’s just fight, we are right here behind you). Love you!” she said.
Prior to serving as DILG Undersecretary under the administration of former President Rodrigo Duterte, Dino was the former chairman of the Subic Bay Maritime Authority (SBMA). He also headed the Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC) after serving as barangay president in Quezon City for 13 years.

Looking at the challenges they face now, Diu00f1o-Seguerra said she is grateful for every little thing and every opportunity they have been given in the past.
