Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson will soon become the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history if all projections are accurate, a transaction that could be only days or moments away.

Justin Jefferson 2023 frontrunner for his award

The 23-year-old is expected to receive a contract extension with the Vikings for $30 to $35 million per year, which is referred to as ‘quarterback money’ in the business.

And he can demand such statistics because of the impact he has had on the Vikings as a franchise and the entire NFL to date. Jefferson won the NFL Offensive Player of the Year award in 2022 and was the first Viking to win the trophy since Adrian Peterson in 2012.

In the meantime, don’t look now, but Jefferson is the favorite Repeat As the Offensive Player of the Year, according to sportsbooks. After Jefferson and college teammate Ja’Marr Chase shared the frontrunner odds for the 2023 OPOY, here’s a glimpse of where OPOY lands in early June:

  • Justin Jefferson: +1200
  • Jamar Chase: +1200
  • Christian McCaffrey: +1400
  • Austin Eckler: +1600
  • Tyreek Hill: +1800
  • Cooper Kupp: +2000
  • Lamar Jackson: +2000
  • Jalen Hearts: +2000
  • Josh Allen: +2500
  • Davante Adams: +2500

Jefferson spent most of his third season chasing Calvin Johnson’s hallowed single-season receiving yard mark, coming up short in the final weeks of the regular season. Along the way, he chased the 2,000-yard mark in receiving yards, which would ultimately be the first feat of its kind by Jefferson or any other talented wideout.

His influence on the Vikings was also significant. If Jefferson was quiet on one gameday in 2022 — mainly because an opposing defensive coordinator was ‘sold out’ to stop him — the Vikings lost. When Jefferson outscored the opposition for 100+ yard games, Minnesota usually won in head coach Kevin O’Connell’s first season.

Jefferson replied Regarding his desire to stay with the Vikings long-term after an early-round playoff exit in January, “I’ll be where I want to be. If they want me here, I’m here.

Therefore, there should be no mystery about his long-term position in purple, perhaps because the men predicted to win OPOY annually are a wise investment. Jefferson also holds the Vikings team records for receptions in a single season and most receiving yards in a season.

Jefferson Extension could be a hit at any time. Wednesday’s edition power trip morning show, kfan Mark Rosen noted as the program ended, “Keep your eye on what’s happening to Justin Jefferson over the next 48 hours.”

Once that formality is on the backburner, the man can look for his second consecutive OPOY, a feat that oddsmakers favor.
