In Episode 13 of Cointelegraph carve it podcast, Elisha Owusu sits down with Akyaw Metis co-founder Elena Sinelnikova. Metis Layer-2 is an optimistic rollup built on Ethereum to explore the world of blockchain technology and its potential impact on decentralization, scalability and real-world applications. Sinelnikova shares her unique insight and experience in the rapidly evolving blockchain space and gives us a glimpse into the future of Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs) powered by Metis.
The conversation began with Sinelnikova giving a broad introduction to Metis, its mission, and the challenges it aims to solve in today’s blockchain landscape. She then dives deep into Ethereum’s Layer 1 limitations, noting things like high gas costs, congestion, and slow transaction times. Sinelnikova explains how Metis uses Layer 2 technology to overcome these barriers, enabling faster, more efficient and more cost-effective transactions for users and developers alike.
Metis is built on top of the Optimism codebase. Sinelnikova explains that while the Metis team believes Optimism is on the right track, the team had to make some changes to the code in order to create a more efficient platform for the Web3 economy.
“You see, Metis is priced much lower than we had hoped. We needed these low rates for the enterprise level so that enterprise-level apps can use Metis more easily than Optimism.”
Next, Akayev and Sinelnikova discuss the importance of decentralization in the blockchain ecosystem. Metis plans to use its unique approach to building and supporting Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs) to shape the future of work and collaboration. Furthermore, Sinelnikova highlighted the role of Metis in enabling individuals and companies to create, manage, and scale their own DAOs in order to foster a more inclusive and transparent decentralized economy.

The episode also touches on the topic of adoption and education. Sinelnikova believes that the most important thing is not to bring new users to crypto, but to protect users who have already entered crypto through comprehensive education.
Finally, Sinelnikova discussed the future of Metis and Layer 2 blockchain technology, outlining the vision for the platform’s continued growth and development.
