The Patriots’ attack is led by quarterback Mack Jones, who was coming off a promising rookie season last season, but declined heavily in his second year in the league. After the departure of McDaniel last year, there was a mix of calling offensive plays, but now with O’Brien back in New England, things could get better, especially with some of their new acquisitions.
Jones has one of the best supporting cast ever in his first three years as a professional. They added JuJu Smith-Schuster in the offseason as well as Tyquan Thornton to go along with Davante Parker. There are promising things to come this season as a Patriots fan but there is going to be some tough sledding against a challenging AFC East.

Why can the Patriots win 7.5 games?
Mac Jones showed promise as a rookie, completing 67.6% of his passes for 3,801 yards and 22 touchdowns. He also had 13 interceptions, but that number is likely to drop once he gains more experience. If he can come back as a rookie, the Patriots’ offense could really take a step forward.
The Patriots have included a few playmakers on offense. They drafted wide receiver Tyquan Thornton in the first round, and he has the speed to spread down the field. They also signed JuJu Smith-Schuster in free agency, giving Jones another reliable target.
The Patriots have one of the top defenses in the league every year that keep them in games throughout the season. They are 10th in the NFL in points allowed in 2022, and they return most of their key players. The defense should be even better in 2023, as they will have more experience playing together.
Why can’t the Patriots win 7.5 games?
The New England Patriots are coming off a disappointing 8-9 season in 2022, and they are not expected to be a playoff team in 2023. There are a lot of question marks on their roster, and their schedule is tough.

The Patriots running game is good when Raimondre Stevenson is able to stay healthy. If Stevenson can stay healthy he will be a huge boost to the hopes of this offense, but the way they will need to run him down the field he will be out this entire season. We also shouldn’t forget that the AFC East will be pretty tough with Aaron Rodgers as part of the New York Jets along with Josh Allen and Tua Tagovailoa. That means the Dolphins will have to play against three top 10 quarterbacks six times this season which is over 1/3 of the season.
Overall Predictions and Picks for the Final New England Patriots Over/Under Wins
This is going to be a tough season for the Patriots. Not because I don’t think they will be competitive, but because they play in one of the toughest divisions in football. Although I expect Mc Jones to do better this season, it is hard to expect that he will have enough firepower to topple these giants in the AFC East. The Patriots defense can only do so much to keep them in games but it will be up to Mac Jones and his supporting cast to put some numbers on the board. Ultimately, the Patriots will be competitive but fall short of a win total this season by several games.
