For now, the 2023 Green Bay Packers are pegged for last place in the NFC North [in order] Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Bears.

The world is upside down.

NFL.com analyst predicts doom for the Packers

And that’s because the Packers’ Hall of Fame quarterback’s 31-season-long streak of guaranteed play may be coming to an end. Aaron Rodgers was traded to the New York Jets this offseason, while the franchise pivoted to first-rounder Jordan Love, selected by Green Bay in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Packers fans will anxiously watch Love’s development in hopes of continuing the mind-boggling stretch of quarterback dominance Wisconsin has shown since its 1992 debut. But not everyone is convinced that the ship will be afloat for the Packers.

Adam Schein of NFL.com wrote Bold Predictions for the 2023 NFL Season this week and predicted Green Bay as the second worst team in the game. A where were you when moment, indeed.

He explained the Packers’ second-worst mark in the league, “Imagine telling Packers fans a few years ago that Green Bay would be trading Davante Adams and Aaron Rodgers in back-to-back seasons. Wow. That’s all-time.” The talent drain would eventually lead to a long 2023 in Titletown.

“Packers coach Matt LaFleur is already preaching patience with Jordan Love. It underscores my worst fears about a quarterback who as a first-round pick seemed out of reach: at best , Love is Green; at least, he’s inept. Green Bay’s fragile offensive line certainly doesn’t ease the concerns. And Joe Barry’s defense took a step back in 2022,” Sheen continued.

According to sportsbooks, the Packers have +4000 odds to win the Super Bowl, a moneyline shared with the Vikings and Seattle Seahawks.

Skene concluded, “The 2022 Packers were eliminated from the postseason in the NFL regular-season finale. The 2023 Packers will be ripe in November.”

Much of the Packers’ fortunes depended on Love maturing quickly, for example, with ESPN’s recently released Football Power Index ranking Green Bay’s offense as the eighth-worst in the NFL. The mark is low because no one knows how efficient Love will be in his first year as a starter. The Packers are basically ‘running it back’ with Love instead of Rodgers, and guys like Shane are lopsided about the strategy.

Other bold predictions from Shane? Sam Darnold of the San Francisco 49ers beat his old team, the Jets, in the Super Bowl. The Arizona Cardinals do not win a single game. And Josh Allen, among other predictions, wins the MVP award.

The 2023 NFL regular season will begin in 98 days.
