NHL Picks Best Bets, Thursday

We have a Blue Jacket Vs. The Bruins’ prediction as Columbus travels to the TD Garden in Boston for this Thursday’s NHL matchup.

Blue Jacket is a mess.

Four of their key contributors have suffered injuries in the past week, including Nick Blankenberg (ankle, week-to-week), Erik Gudbranson (shoulder, out six weeks), Patrick Lane (triceps, two to four weeks). , , and Mathieu Olivier (foot, two to four weeks out).

Meanwhile, the Bruins are looking to bounce back from a temporary loss to Nashville.

The Predators won 2–1, but Money Puck’s Post-Game Expectancy Model projects the Bruins to win that game 71% of the time over 1000 simulations.

Either way, Tuesday’s results have nothing to do with Thursday’s matchup, where the Bruins are monstrous betting favorites.

So, read on for the odds with my picks and predictions for the Blue Jackets vs. the Blue Jackets. Bruins.

Blue Jackets Vs. Bruins Prediction

(7 p.m. ET., ESPN+)

It is almost impossible to bet on any one side for this game.

The Blue Jackets have been bumped up and are actively sliding toward the top overall NHL draft pick, but it is unwise to even put someone with an NHL favorite over -400 on the ML.

However, the above is interesting.

Jackett’s injuries are brutal, but two, in particular, are notable – Gudbranson and Blankenberg.

These are Columbus’ two highest usage guards, even playing on one line together most nights.

The Blue Jackets are not a deep hockey team, so locking them both down means you’re pushing less experienced defenders onto the ice.

Obviously, the results have been disastrous. In the two games after Columbus shut out the pair, the Blue Jackets allowed eight goals to the Canadiens and six to the Rangers.

Of course, it doesn’t help when your goalie trio saved -36.4 goals per money puck more than expected.

In the meantime, we should expect the Bruins to carry the momentum here. They are due for some slight positive regression after the loss to Nashville and will likely be looking to bounce back.

Even if the Bruins sit some top players, they have enough depth to score on the Blue Jackets’ severe shorthanded defense.

The Blue Jackets’ offense isn’t much better, but they have scored 18 goals in the last five games (3.6 goals per game).

Betting on the NHL?

Meanwhile, it’s Jeremy Swaman’s turn in net for the Bruins.

Boston’s backup goaltender is a quality netminder, but he’s a step below starter Linus Ullmark, which offers a small glimmer of hope for Columbus’ forwards.

So, ultimately, I expect fireworks in this game.

We could see 10 goals here if the Blue Jackets trends continue as they have been.

So, I’m betting on Over, looking for the Bruins to cut right through Columbus’ weak defense and goal while Columbus sneaks at least one past selfman on the other end.
