Ryle Santiago dreams of opening for Sarah G

Ryle Santiago always knew that he came from a prominent showbiz family. At school, staff and others asked her about her mother, Sherlyn Reyes. Others would approach him and tell him that they were fans of Randy Santiago, or that they were crazy about Remart Santiago.

“But as a kid you don’t think about it much. I didn’t realize the seriousness of it until I entered showbiz. It’s not all rainbows and butterflies,” he told Viva Artistes during a virtual conference. said in announcing his move to the agency.

“You’re inevitably compared to them. But I take it as a challenge,” said Rael, who doesn’t feel entitled to special treatment in the industry just because she’s a Santiago.

Rayal’s biological father is Junoon Santiago, the head of the ABS-CBN business unit, who is the brother of Randy, Rovel, and Raymart. However, he grew up with Sherlyn and her second husband, former basketball player Chris Tan.

At 24, Ryle knows that offers to play more “mature” or “adventurous” roles will be inevitable. “I’m not getting any younger,” he said. Showing some skin is something he is willing to do, but definitely not everything and only if the project is good.

“Basta hindi po pang pornstar,” he joked with a laugh. “I’m ready for something more mature. My parents are here to guide me. As long as the story is good, why not?”

More Opportunities As Viva talent, Ryle hopes for a bigger stage and more opportunities to explore acting and music. “I hope Vivah can be my creative playground, where I can try romantic comedies, play villains. There are many things to be excited about,” he said.

When asked what he considers his strengths and weaknesses, Rael listed comedy as his comfort zone and heavy drama as his biggest challenge.

“Comedy comes more natural to me. Heavy drama doesn’t come easy as I no longer have experiences to draw inspiration from. You have to find the right things that touch your heart in the right way to reflect the necessary emotions… I still struggle with it,” said Rell, who also featured on ABS-CBN’s “Asintado” and “#ParanormalActivity”. Starred in such a series as “.

He was also part of Hashtag, an all-male dance troupe formed on the afternoon show ‘It’s Showtime’. Coincidentally, some of its members, such as McCoy de Leon, Nikko Natividad, Wilbert Ross and Vito Marquez, also turned to Viva.

“I’m happy because it means maybe there will be opportunities for us to work together. I hope to make a Barkada film with the boys. I think that would be cool. It’s something we’ve always wanted to do.” But never got the chance,” explains Rayal, who also hopes to do another project with Jason Paul Laxman, who got her a break in the award-winning indie film “Buckwheat Boys”.

Future Music Ryle, who is also a singer-songwriter, plans to release more music in the future. “One of the dreams of me and my parents is to start a Sarah Geronimo concert,” he said. “But it’s something I have to work hard for and build on.”

When the pandemic hit, Ryle took a break from acting and worked remotely as a graphic designer for a small UK fintech company. He also set up a live streaming and influencer marketing agency with his brother. But while he enjoyed exploring and pursuing other fields, he could not live without acting and performing.

“I never thought of becoming anything else. My parents used to worry because I didn’t know what I wanted as a kid. But the signs were: I love dancing and singing. I wanted to major in the performing arts. Interested,” he said. “Now I can say that I have come to the right place.”
