September 2023 Apple event: date, time and launch event for iPhone 15
Apple is expected to unveil the new iPhone 15 range at an event in September 2023. Plus, we might see new Apple Watches and many other new products. Here’s everything you need to know.
When is Apple’s iPhone event?
In 2022, Apple’s September event was held on Wednesday, September 7th. This is an earlier date than the annual iPhone event held in recent years – in 2021 the event was held on Tuesday, September 14. (The 2020 iPhone event was later, but 2020 was an unusual year).
Apple hasn’t announced the date of the event yet, but we expect it to happen in early September, most likely September 12 or 13, 2023. September 6 and 7 are also viable dates, but we’re hearing that the release of the iPhone may be delayed this year, so Apple is unlikely to hold an early event.
We’ll probably be exploring the data in mid to late August. In 2022, the invitations were sent out on 24 August. In years past, we’ve learned that Apple Store employees have been alerted to “major new product releases” on a specific September date and are not allowed to book vacation.
What time does the iPhone event start?
One thing we can be pretty sure of is that the start time for the Apple event in California is 10am. In other countries around the world it is translated as:
- US: 10 am (PDT), 11 am (MDT), 12 noon (CDT), 1 pm (EDT)
- UK: 6pm (BST)
- Europe: 7 PM (CEST)
- Canada: 10 am (PDT), 11 am (MDT), 12 noon (CDT), 1 pm (EDT), 2 pm (EDT)
- India: 10:30 PM (IST)
- Singapore and China: 1 am the next day
- Australia: 1am (AWST), 2:30am (ACST), 3am (AEST) the next day
- New Zealand: 5 a.m. (NZST) the next day
Apple’s events in September usually last between one and two hours.

What will Apple launch in September event?
We expect the new iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max to be the stars of the event, followed by the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus, but other new products are also likely to arrive, including the Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2. We could also see a new iPad mini and the long-rumored AirPods Lite. We may also see new Apple EarPods with USB-C instead of the Lightning versions.
At the iPhone event, Apple will likely also announce the release date of the new iOS 17 and watchOS 10 operating systems, possibly a few days after the event. We may also get a download date for iPadOS 17, which usually releases alongside iOS, but sometimes iPadOS launches a little late. Apple will also likely reveal when the next tvOS and HomePod software updates will be available.
At the 2022 iPhone 14 event, Apple launched the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, Apple Watch Series 8, Apple Watch SE (2nd Gen), Apple Watch Ultra and AirPods Pro (2nd Gen). That was a lot of new products, we don’t expect as much new hardware in September.
Here’s everything we expect from Apple’s September event:
iPhone 15, Plus, Pro and Max (or maybe Ultra)
It looks like we’re getting four new iPhones this year, a similar lineup to 2022, which will have a standard iPhone 15 and larger Plus model and a more advanced iPhone 15 Pro and larger Max. There are rumors that Max may become Ultra. Rumors suggest that the Pro model will get most of the new features as usual, although the Max model may get new features that the Pro lacks.

Apple Watch Series 8, Pro and SE 2
Looks like there’s more than one Apple Watch in the pipeline. An Apple Watch 9 and a new Apple Watch Ultra come with a new chip, but not much else.
- Apple Watch 9: Same size of 41mm and 45mm, S9 chip, better battery life.
- AApple Watch Ultra: Same 49mm size, S9 chip, better battery life.

ipad mini
It’s not as certain as the iPhone and watches, but we could see a new iPad mini launch at the September event if the following works out:
- iPad mini (7th generation): A16 chip, more storage space (we hope).
