Why sounders can beat earthquakes

The Seattle Sounders went into a tough fight with the New York Red Bulls last weekend, with Jordan Morris scoring the opening goal on 22 minutes from an assist from Leo Chu. The Sounders made a total of eight shots and seven corner kicks in the game, but the game turned out to be physical, as the team committed 19 fouls in the game. João Paulo picked up an indirect red card, while Cody Baker and Jackson Regen picked up yellow cards.

The Sounders have now won two of their last seven matches in all competitions, while conceding only five goals and conceding eight. With 26 points from 15 games, the Seattle Sounders remain at the top of the Western Conference, edging out St. Louis City and LA FC by just one point, but have played more games. Seattle currently has the fourth best record among all teams in MLS, where their 8–2–5 record has seen them score 21 goals and lose 13. Seattle’s home form is 5-1-2, where they have scored 13 goals and conceded only four.

The Sounders have only lost five games so far, but three of those losses have come in the last seven contests. The hosts will look to pick up a point or three in this match as they only have to focus on the US Open Cup. The Sounders defeated the San Diego Loyals before losing to the LA Galaxy in the Round of 32.

For Brian Schmetzer’s team, there will be some absences. Jordan Morris, Cody Baker and Obed Vargas are out while Cristian Roldan and Ethan Dobelaire are doubtful for this game.

Jordan Morris leads the team with nine goals, but there will be other players in his absence. Raul Ruidiaz and Haber are second with two goals each. Leo Chu dished out five assists, while Nicolas Lodeiro had three dimes. 12 players have a goal or an assist for Rev Green. He must match or exceed his averages of 12.4 total shots, 5.7 corner kicks, and 1.4 goals per game on 56.8% ball possession to give Seattle a win.

Why earthquakes can beat sounders

The Quakes are having a completely different season after 14 games, earning 19 points to continue their good start in MLS. The Earthquakes are fifth in the West, trailing behind Seattle, St. Louis City, Los Angeles FC and Dallas. Despite all their success this season, San Jose still has a -1 goal difference, conceding 18 goals while conceding 19.

Coach Luchi Gonzalez has not only improved the mentality of this team, but he has also groomed his players to adopt a highly efficient and successful offensive approach, which has paid off recently. Over the last seven games, the Quakes shared the spoils with Austin FC (2–2) and FC Dallas (1–1), while losing to Real Salt Lake (3–1), the LA Galaxy (2–1), and the LA Galaxy (2–1). Damage done. FC (2-1). Their only win in that stretch was a 2–1 victory over LA FC, where Cristian Espinoza scored two goals. The Quakes managed to hold on to 40% ball possession and win despite only having three shots on goal and four corner kicks.

However, the Earthquakes are still struggling on the road. Through seven matches in all competitions, they are yet to pick up a road win, losing five times and winning every match. 15 goals conceded in league play and a -8 goal differential puts them among the worst road records in MLS. Carlos Akpo, Nathan, Jonathan Mensah, Nico Sakiris and Cade Cowell are out for the Quakes while Paul Maree is doubtful as he is battling a knee problem.

Cristian Espinoza should continue to lead the attack for the Quakes as he looks to add to his eight-goal and three-assist tally. Jérémy Abobis is second on the team with five goals while Jamiro Monteiro has two assists. Defender Carlos Akapo has one goal and one assist so far.
