The Minnesota Vikings began training camp on Sunday, with rookies reporting to team headquarters in Eagan. Veterans Report Tuesday.

And in preparation for camp, the Vikings filled three open roster spots after the club released UDFA wide receiver Malik Knowles.

Vikings added 3 new players on Monday

The players aren’t famous, but such is life when trying to fill out a 90-man roster.

These three new players are listed alphabetically.

Bobby Evans (OT)

This guy actually played for the Vikings last year, albeit on the practice squad. Minnesota added Evans to the expanded roster after Brian O’Neal sat out the season with an Achilles injury.

But now Evans is back and hoping to make it to the 53-man roster when the franchise cuts down to 37 players on August 29. Evans has played in 35 career games, starting 12, and won a Super Bowl in 2021 with Kevin O’Connell and the Rams.

However, in 2022, he posted a terrible 29.8 pro football focus Categorywho would be the worst in the nfl if he was eligible of PFF Minimum snap count. But O’Connell clearly enjoys Evans’ skills, and the 26-year-old will compete with Blake Brandel, Vedrian Lowe, Jackie Chan and Sam Schlueter for the reservist OT spot after Christian Darrishaw and Brian O’Neal.

Zack Snyder (The OG)

This individual was also employed by the Rams, but for an abbreviated term through 2022. Snyder was not drafted into the NFL and subsequently entered the XFL Draft, where he became the first overall offensive lineman selected. The Houston Roughnecks made the selection, and he appeared in nine games for them in 2023.

Now, he will find success on the Vikings active roster.

Minnesota has also drafted Ezra Cleveland, Ed Ingram, Chris Reed, Ollie Udoh and Alan Aldey as guards, although Reed was added to the non-football injury list on Monday.

Like Evans, Snyder should be treated as a long shot at earning a spot on the regular season roster.

Colin Thompson (TE)

A long snapper and tight end, Thompson has caught a single pass in his NFL career – a touchdown for the 2020 Carolina Panthers. Given playing time in 2020 and 2021, he has appeared in 26 NFL games over six seasons. He played 284 offensive snaps in his career, including 234 on special teams in the long-snapping role.

Thompson experienced most of his on-the-field action with the 2020 Panthers and tabulated 58.7 pro football focus Category.

After TJ Hockenson and Josh Oliver on the depth chart, Thompson will be expected to earn the TE3 job while competing with Johnny Mundt, Nick Muse and Ben Sims.

Thompson was teammates at the University of Florida with former Vikings defender Sharif Floyd. After transferring to Temple for 2014–2016, he teamed up with current NFLers Hassan Reddick, Dion Dawkins, Matthew Ioannidis and former Viking Nate Hairston.
